Sagmeister

 

Stefan Sagmeister is a European graphic designer who is famous for his creative pieces of typography. I reasearched his techniques and looked at some of his work to influence my responses.

 

 

 

Whilst looking at Sagmeisters mixed media responses I was drawn to this piece. The poster created for Lou Reed and shows the lyrics to one of his songs written on his face using creative typography. Sagmeister was inspired to do this piece by middle Eastern artist Shirin Neshat who uses arabic typing on hands and feet.

This is my response to the Lou Reed poster created by Stefan Sagmeister. I chose to draw the letter 'U' onto my skin in a font which was similar to the typography on the poster. I photographed it and printed it to add to my worksheet.

I was also drawn to the bright colours and interesting typography of this piece. Sagmeisters 'Aizone FW13' features different faces painted with inspiring maxims with bold and colourful typography.

This is my response to the Aizone piece by Sagmeister. I used oil pastel to give the bright,vibrant colour. I outlined the letter to make the colours pop and stand out. I used a similar typography to the font that Sagmeister used in his piece.
